Cheapest Computer Akash is India’s another nano


Kapil-Sibal to launch world cheapest computerNew Delhi: The government today launched the much awaited world’s cheapest computer. This computing-cum-access device is been launched today. With this Computer the Government dreams at making the students from primary schools to colleges and universities well versed with advanced technological developments.

The government has developed the Aakash tablet in collaboration with a British-based company DataWind. The initial cost at which the government is acquiring one lakh units the tablet PC from DataWind is Rs 2250 per unit. The target price at which the government intends to acquire an additional 1 crore units is the previously publicised Rs 1750 per unit.

This Desi device was launched by Human Resources Development Minister Kapil Sibal. In New Delhi it was unveiled after years of delays.

Named as “Akash, this computer is developed as a part of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT). It is a full functioning device which will be available at an unbelievable cost. The much awaited computer is fully touch screen.
