LTE Technology In Mobile Phones

Evolving technology is taking the mobile phone to new heights in respect of its characteristic features and performance standards. Intended for communication purpose alone at the time of its introduction, the mobile phone has become a multipurpose utility with several features. In such a scenario, LTE or Long Term Evolution is a project that is targeting revolutionary changes in the mobile phone technology. It is within the framework of third generation mobile telephony and is expected to improve upon the Universal Mobile Telecommunication standards in order to cope up with future requirements. Improving spectral efficiency, lowering costs, improving services and better integration with other open standards are among the objectives of the project. Known as 3GPP (third generation partnership project) LTE in technical parlance, the project will add new specifications and will formulate innovative ideas and concepts for taking mobile telephony to fourth generation technology. As the improvisation is based on the existing third generation technology, service providers will be able to upgrade their network suitably without incurring exorbitant costs. Alternatively another network based on a different technology will be much more expensive.
Handsets and other mobile devices will be able to download multimedia or information data almost ten times faster than the existing speed under the 3G spectrum, once the LTE project is successfully completed. The user can download mobile Broadband as fast as a computer having wired Broadband connection. As a multi-faceted entity, a mobile phone is being used by the consumer to watch movies, listen to music and also to browse internet. As such the consumers in the given circumstances have high expectations. The demanding consumer in the present scenario would like to download a 700MB movie file in a matter of moments at 100Mbps. LTE technology is capable of meeting such challenges.
All major players in the world mobile phone market have agreed to adhere to the LTE based fourth generation technology. This is a very important factor in the context of global connectivity. Despite diverse view points between operators in the mobile telephony, some sort of consensus is emerging in the matter of standardization. The innovative product is expected to reach the market by 2010.
